Description
Cozy, caramel-drizzled, and made for gifting — these Spiced Pear Crumble Jars layer warm cinnamon pears, buttery oat crumble, and salted caramel for a Thanksgiving-ready dessert.
Ingredients
4 medium pears (800 g), peeled & diced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup (100 g) light brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (100 g) old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
Pinch fine salt
1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Toss pears with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger; spread in a greased 9-inch baking dish.
3. In a bowl, combine flour, oats, melted butter, and a pinch of salt until large crumbs form.
4. Sprinkle crumble evenly over pears; bake 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbly at the edges.
5. Cool 20 minutes so layers hold; then spoon pear filling and crumble into 6–8 (8 oz) jars, creating visible layers.
6. Drizzle salted caramel over the top; serve warm or refrigerate up to 3 days.
Notes
Use slightly firm Bartlett or Bosc pears for the best texture.
Cool the crumble fully before layering to keep the topping crisp.
For gifting, add caramel just before serving; finish with sea salt flakes.
Gluten-free: use a 1:1 GF baking flour. Vegan: plant butter + dairy-free caramel.
Double batch: bake in a 9×13-inch pan; yields ~10–12 jars.
