Description

This 15 Minute Honey Garlic Shrimp is a fast, flavor-packed dinner with tender shrimp coated in a glossy sweet savory garlic sauce. It is perfect for busy weeknights and delicious served over rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb large shrimp (450 g), peeled and deveined

1/3 cup honey (113 g)

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (60 ml)

4 garlic cloves (12 g), minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger (6 g), grated

1 tbsp olive oil (15 ml)

1 tsp cornstarch (3 g)

2 tbsp water (30 ml)

2 green onions, sliced

1 tsp sesame seeds

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving, optional

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

2. In a small bowl, stir the cornstarch and water until smooth to make a slurry.

3. Heat the olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.

4. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 minute on the first side.

5. Flip the shrimp and cook for 1 minute more, just until they start turning pink and lightly opaque.

6. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the skillet and stir gently to coat the shrimp.

7. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir well.

8. Let the sauce simmer for 1 to 2 minutes, until thickened and glossy and the shrimp are fully cooked.

9. Remove from the heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

10. Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or vegetables if desired.

Notes

Pat the shrimp dry before cooking so they sear better and the sauce clings nicely.

Use low-sodium soy sauce for a more balanced sweet savory flavor.

Do not overcook the shrimp or they can become rubbery.

For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.

This recipe is best served fresh while the sauce is glossy and warm.
